Triviums one of those bands where you either love em or hate em, but as i see, alot of people hate them, so im part of the minority.

My god...I cannot believe the filth that is coming out of your mouth. I respect your opinion and all but dude...you have got some nerve to sit back and criticise a band for all of their so called "negatives". As for their music, maybe your ears just can't handle an awesome scream? Have you ever tried to scream melodically? It's harder than you think, it takes talent. And correct me if i'm wrong, but don't all bands have repetitive riffs? In this case not just any riffs, these are extremely difficult technical to play, especially the solos - have you even taken any of that into consideration? You think they won band of the year from Guitar world magazine just because they sold the most albums ? What lies! - they worked their asses off to get where they are today. Locking themselves in their room practising endless hours. I don't think you quite understand what a metal band is. Of course it is going to consist of screaming. ITS METAL DUDE. NOT POP! "the guitar work isn't bad" - how can you honestly say that, Go fucking give it a shot. See if you can master their solos. That dude who said that Matt Heafy wouldn't just be named a captain for no reason in Roadrunner United is 100% right. This kid is 19yrs old, yet i bet your probably an aged fossil and not even capable of half the things he can do. By the way, do you happen to know Kelly? - she's my department manager and happens to be a crack head.

Plenty of time to develop being at such a young age, I think its a good review but I disagree with the score I'd say its at least average/to good

i thin ki am going to agree with people that say heafy cant scream, he fu(king roars. you ust have to get used to it.

and about this swinage that was mentioned earlier

"the guitar work isn't bad" - how can you honestly say that, Go ****ing give it a shot

Uh, he said that the guitar work isn't bad. That means "IS NOT."

i'm pretty sure that trivium-ascender was meaning that noting there guitar work as "not bad" is quite insulting, as not bad is only that..

for all of you saying that it is poorly written etc, i think you should get a guitar and play it yourself and soon you well see that the complexity of it is far beyond that of your beloved metallica. (for all of you thinking i am dissing them, i am not at all, it;s jsut i can play metallica, yet trivium almost causes infectious swine pits to form on my finger tips from the wear and tear caused by the rapid note changes - ps, i compeltely fail at playing trivium)

there will never be another metallica, and i feel like an indonesian sand rat from mentioning them as much as i have.

and about this repetitiveness of the riffs, most tabs looked up are quite short with the one main riff being played for about 80% off the song. in gunshot to the head of trepidation there are at least 5 main riffs.. i fail to see how that is repetitive. and then the lengthy solos take away even more time that could have been used repeating this riffs. i would also like to ask how many bands you know of that have guitar solos that are harmonised between two guitars AND lead into them doing harmonic shredding. that is a sincere question too

i am seriously thinking that the person who did this review must have the name antionne, heard of him? he is a manager over even the cracking cloud of smoke that kelly produces and tends to snoop around and critisice things before he really knows whats going on. he also ha sun uncanny resemblance of mr bean, has weird looking legs, hunches and insists on combing his hair to the sides and backwards

Heheheh, looks like someone's a little grumpy about someone having a differing opinion on their favorite band. If this is how you react to people's opinions then maybe you should cry into your pillow for a while and then pretend that Trivium is god and anyone who dislikes them is flat out wrong.

It doesn't change the fact that this band sucks ass. This Message Edited On 02.17.06

Oh, sorry, I thought you were serious. I've been really loving Dark Tranquillity lately, mainly new stuff. I was never big on In Flames at all, although their old albums have some great moments.

This album just doesn't do it for me. I bet they will be great in the future, though. But for now, I'm not impressed.

wtf.. since when did i say it was my favourite band.. oh wait that's right - never. the red hot chili peppers happens to be my favourite band. then System of a Down, then aproximately 7 bands, then trivium might slot in somewhere

in case you couldn't work it out from the rhyme schemes in my username anthony cletus = anthony kiedis aka rhcp vocalist

Matt needs to work on his vocals and to either learn how to properly scream or just use clean vocals.

Yes I'm sure matt heafy can't sing...you fucking retard. He sung on the most melodic track of Roadrunner United- "The End". Probably owns the fuck out of your voice and quite frankly anyone else's on that album.

The fact that this is how we react to your opinion because it in no shape or form reflects the bands attributes. Why make the comment about them lacking bass when you stated all metal bands seem to be lacking them? Bit of a contradiction - pointless as well. Trivium is a metal band, if you didn't know that. Also don't just assume from a user's username that is their favourite band. Trivium is one of a few bands that I have heard that use harmonised riffs and solos. So I find it hard to believe that it is common amongst many bands.

"the guitarists don't mindlessly shred like other metal artists..." ...what lies...if anything many metal bands lack shredding ability.

By the way...you must know of Leon. He's the night fill assistant manager and is basically a mushroom head.

That was a big fanboy comment. I never said anything about Matt's singing, I said he couldn't SCREAM so learn the difference.

You faboys piss me off. Go listen to any generic NWOAHM band and you'll realize Trivium isn't doing anything new. Quite the contrary - they're extremely unoriginal, but I guess whatever sells records.

I like the musical aspect, but I've never been a fan of screaming. This really turns me off to the band, while I really want to enjoy it, I can't as much.

They're really good for so young though. If your into the screaming you'd love these guys, no doubt.

I love the screaming in this album, I dont think that he needs to change his voice too much though it can be better, in songs like Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyer his voice sounds a little premature but I somehow like it. I think the guitar work is absolutely brilliant, though I hear some similarites when compared to Iron Maiden's guitar style (harmonized riffs, for example). But I just dont see how so many people can be putting this album down, I really enjoy it!

Matt Heafy's vocals on the Roadrunner United track made me want to get this CD, or at least look into it.
