Aids post punk is the most varied and diverse genre that exists pretty much

If anyone has exhausted this heat's discog and wants more, two bands to check

Camberwell Now (members of this band after break up)

Swell Maps (just get it)

Thanks, I should have already known about Camberwell Now since they were related to This Heat. I have heard Swell Maps though.

This is the most surprised and floored I've been by an album since I was 14 and heard Lift Yr Skinny Fists...for the first time. There's just nothing at all like it....the rhythm section is absolutely unbelievable, esp. on "New Kind of Water". Unsettling shit, no doubt.

I've had "Makeshift Swahili" stuck in my head for like 3 weeks now...which is not a good one to be singing aloud as one's walking down the street.

God and the vocal arrangement on S.P.Q.R. - who comes up with that?! At first it's totally bizarre, these weird modal neither-major-nor-minor-but-actually-both harmonies, right on top of the driving major chords (just about the only ones) on the album.

This album haunts me but everyone I play it to looks at me like I should be put in a home. Best comment from someone I've played it to: "They sound angry. Are they singing backwards?"
