Good call dude, that instrumental section followed by the outro is the stuff of legends

You know what's amazing about these kinds of albums. It's like muscle memory. I hadn't heard this in a long time, but when the songs start I remember most of the melodies almost immediately

Yo porc, you have you checked the new Pure Reason Revolution album? Very cool atmospheric prog rock. Really good engineering on it

About my rating. I'm weird. I only rate in 4's (I like it at least enough to want it in my library) and 2's (I don't like it enough for that). If I was rating more conventionally this would be a 5. That said, to be honest, I haven't listened to this all the way through in years. The way I relate to music emotionally has changed a lot, and I have found the dark emotional intensity of this album quite off-putting in recent years. It's a masterful album but my time with it is mostly over, for better or worse.

Oh wow. Interesting. Honestly I love the mix and production on the original album release. So not sure what I'd want to change. Will be interesting to hear it though.

Holy shit it sounds so rejuvenated and spaced out (much more of a noticeable change compared to the Remedy Lane remaster)

@night: I think the original is a bit too condensed and suffocated, and I think it deserved a remaster. Even though I don't usually like remasters

You're right that the original is condensed. And I think that contributes to how dense and impenetrable the record feels at first. But I feel like once you break through and discern all that's going on, those qualities of the mix are revealed to be a real asset. They contribute a lot to the atmosphere and personality of the album.

Just listened to the new mix of Ashes and yeah, it definitely has more breathing room. Also, the sound of the drum effect in the first build up seems substantially different. Like you say, a more radical change than the Remedy Lane mix. At the moment I definitely prefer the original. The new one feels more neutral, like the mix and production are not contributing so much of their own voice to the sound. Feels like a loss of personality to me. But hey, I've been listening to the original for 15 years so I'm quite attached to it! The new mix might grow on me in time.

Remastered sounds great, really helps the wall of sound in some tracks

And it makes some details audible tbh. I didn't know how much was buried in the mix in the original mix

Remastered is fucking g l o r i o u s , what a fucking masterpiece of a disc this is.

Probably this is their actual best, if I weren't so emotionally attached to Remedy Lane this would be deserving of a 5 (or why not both, will ponder about it thanks)

Also Idioglossia and King of Loss are two of the best mammoths here, reviewer has been drunk for 15 years

"The Perfect Element " 5/5

The longest song on the album. I won"t go into detail because it"s very long and complicated and I"m getting tired, but this song rocks. "

wow we were really laissez-faire in '05 on highlighted reviews uh (am I salty my Panther review did not get featured? maybe)

Haven't heard the whole thing yet, but the new Reconciliation sounds so neat, especially that added beat during the chorus.

Used on the other hand has this annoying guitar (or whatever that buzz is) that starts at 4:05, which I'm not crazy about it. Anyway in general this looks very promising.

Listened to more than just In the Flesh for the first time, and I was blown away. One of the best albums I've listened to in a long time.
