ReturnToRock, I figured that you of all people would like White Lion (they're definitely my favorite stereotypical 80s band).
Yeah, Skid Row's first two albums were easily some of the best of the decade.

Tesla is my favorite band in the genre not named Def Leppard.

Nah, actually I did download a few White Lion albums, including the one you mentioned, but mostly I was bored by them. The only songs I really liked were the two big hits, Little Fighter and When The Children Cry.
And Poison were great musicians, I love Bobby Dall! And C. C. is easily one of the best glam/cock rock lead guitarists, maybe next to Richie Sambora.

Dokken is another band I can't get into. Ditto Winger, although they have a couple of owning songs (Miles Away, Seventeen, Headed For A Heartbreak, Easy Come, Easy Go).

Check out Dokken's live album "Beast From the East." If you don't like that, you don't like Dokken. The live versions of Into the Fire and Dream Warriors fucking rule.

Not really a Poison fan, overall I don't listen to glam metal that much.
Dokken kicks serious ass though, I'll probably do their first four albums, since it's all that matters from them.

I'm in a glam mood this week :D Have loved this album since I was in Highschool (when it came out). Life Loves a Tragedy is in my top 5 of Poison tunes.

Sorry dude, but I have to disagree. I think C.C. rather sucks as a guitarist. Richie's okay, but imo he's not as great as some might make him out to be.
Some of my fave glam guitarists:
George Lynch
Vito Bratta
Whitesnake's guitarists
(need to listen to more glam...)

A lot of 80s bands had awesome lead guitarists, but Poison wasn't one of them.

Actually, I agree that CC was an excellent guitarist, especially by scene standards (I'm thinking Cinderella or Ratt here, mind you, not Dokken or Survivor).

Tesla's guitarist is great too (Frank Hannon).

You might wanna be a bit more specific here seeing as Whitesnake only released like 2 or 3 albums in their whole discography that could be considerred glam/hair metal. 2 of the best guitarists the band ever had (Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody) were actually blues/blues rock guitarists.

Agreed about Vito and Lynch though, they rule.

^Those being 1987 and Slip Of The Tongue? What about Slide It In?
|
| |
Yeah 1987 and Slip of the Tongue were definitely hair metal albums. Slide it In is a bit more debateable as they still had some of their blues rock sound then due in part to Moody still being in the band.
|
| |
I'd probably class the title track as hair metal though, and maybe a few other songs from that album.

On the topic of 80's/Glam guitarists. Snake and Scotti from Skid Row should get more credit.
