the thing about this album is that although the riffs are nowhere close to altars, the solos are some of the best ever, across all genres of music. some of these solo's even give kerry king's solo in the beastie boys' fight for your right a run for its money. the solos get this album 3 points, the riffs earn the other '.5'. the drums are pretty great as well, vocals too. but due to the threshold paradox, they can't pull the album higher. maybe if david vincent used his altars vox technique, that would be different. oh wait, he does on the pre-altars track number 7. oh morbid angel.

i mean i really love this album but it's about as trve 3.5 as it gets. on the other hand i kinda hate some things about BATS but thats about as 4 as it gets. such a great albums
