If your parents made your life seem like hell this album is a perfect vehicle for your discontent to break through, just pump it up and lock yourself in your room. Everybody has a dark side and it finds its way of showing every now and then. Staind's frontmen (Aaron Lewis) has a perfect voice for these retaliation songs. Among my favorites are Outside, Epiphany, For You. I liked "It's Been A While" a lot, but it was just to over played to last.

For two albums they were the exception for me... again talking about that late 90's early 00's group of crap-rock.

I was also into these guys for awhile; then I decided that being a whiny bitch was no way to go through life.

I used to really, really hate this band. For many years. Then over the last six months I finally acknowledged my musical past, that yes indeed like every other adolescent male in the United States growing up in the late 90s/early 2000s, I did indeed like nu-metal and it's various offsprings, I did indeed like Limp Bizkit, Korn, Linkin Park, Slipknot, all of those bands. So as I've gone back to listen to some of those old albums and sift out the good from the bad, I came upon this album and band. I decided to give them another shot and DLed this album, threw it on my iPod, and went out for a run and listened to the entire thing. Got home and listened to it all the way through again.
This is a fuckin' excellent little record, really. The lyrics can occasionally be a bit trite (particularly on the opening track "Open Your Eyes"), but the music is post-grunge/nu-metal done to perfection, the singer has so much emotion in his voice, and some of the lyrics are actually quite good. I'm sad I didn't give these guy's a chance sooner, because this is a great album. I might have to review this properly in the coming days. For now, I'm just going to give it a 4 or 4.5 and leave it at that. Underrated man, underrated.
