i wasnt too into sheik yerbouti but repeated listens might help

joe's garage seems sweet havent jammed it in full but i prefer fusioned-out zappa or the fucked up heavy shit on zoot over like, his vocal-oriented stuff

I think you might like You Are What You Is, a lot of gospel and prog etc.

It's his best 80s release for sure.

I can't imagine what Zappa was thinking when he chose to include only a cut of the Inca Roads solo.

Not on this album it isn't. He cuts the poor guitar-solo all to hell, transposes parts, fucks with the tempo and even deletes a minute or so entirely (just when it was getting good). Inca Roads is totally perfect, but it's poorly represented on OSFA.

I don't agree I think the solo was kept short because there so much more to the song. It's my favorite Zappa track and I don't think a longer solo would've benefitted it at all.

I'm pretty sure you have no idea why the song was edited the way it was. Perhaps it was the only way to cram it on the side of an album and maybe it just sucks that the most blissful part of the solo had to hit the cutting room floor. Zappa should have sacrificed "Can't Afford No Shoes" instead!

Actually the longer solo did benefit Inca Roads when it was performed and recorded 10 months earlier in Helsinki in its entirety from which the album solo was sourced. I'll take what has been considered the most outstanding lead Zappa has ever played over the piece that more than likely was cut together due time and space constraints.

It's a truly wonderful piece however you enjoy it.

I mean Sofa No. 1 or Can't Afford No Shoes could have fit on side 2 rather easily to make space since that'd only still make side 2 like 23 mins long so I don't think that's why.
