Wouldn't mind if Down by the River went on forever. One of his best guitar pieces btw.

If you can spare the effort, listen to Decade a couple of times, while reading the lyrics - which are always an essential part of the atmosphere with NY. Try to notice the diversity of styles, themes and instrumentations. As well as his guitar playing which is highly peculiar (and underrated). Then listen to On The Beach and Tonight's The Night. And if you don't hear it, well ok then, you don't hear it.

not a fan of compilations so I guess I'll try to listen to his discography again super carefully and we'll see if it works. Kinda surprised to hear about the diversity of styles and instrumentation, albums sounded rather similar to me so far.

Me neither but Decade is a really, really good compilation! Chances are that if you don't get into Decade, you won't get into his earlier work in general.

If you plan on listening through his discography, as for studio albums after Zuma it's pretty much downhill (or mediocre at best) until 1988. Then it gets better till 1996. After that I grew tired & lost track :-)
