What a relief, for a moment I thought there was a Genesis song Jethro didn't know about!
hahaha Well that EP went almost unnoticed to me. In 1980 (3 years after its release), my ex gf told me about that album. I didnt even know of its existence until she bought me the album. It remained under the dust though.

Supper's Ready isn't the same without Gabriel but taking his absence into account the version on here is excellent.

Have you listened to the whole thing Jamie? If so, it could use your rating.

I've heard the Peter Gabriel version and for some strange reason I always liked the Phil Collins version better. But that's just my opinion.
|

Seriously? Gabriel brings so much more character to the song.
@Nag: Sorry, only just seen your comment. Yeah I have, gonna rate now.

Here's a wonderful drum solo made by the Genesis' touring drummer, maestro Chester Thompson. Today he's 65 but he still is powerful with a lot of energy.

That's awesome Jethro, Thompson is just a beast, I'm loving how awesome he can be on still a very simple
set.
This is definitely one of my favorite live albums, even though Gabriel isn't there, Collins does a wonderful
job and the tracklist is near-perfect

Yeah but I could do with more songs from Wind & Wuthering.
What makes Seconds Out so special is that they played two drummers in their instrumental parts.

Yeah, there might have been a little more W&W but I do love the selection of songs here. Shame they never recorded a live this extensive with Gabriel (The Lamb live on Archive #1 doesn't really count), but this really doesn't leave that much to be desired.

The lack of W&W's material has apparently something to do with Steve Hackett who left the band during the mix of Seconds Out. Steve brought a lot to W&W and the band have chosen to put less of his material on the live album..

Salty as fuq to do that. Nice live album, but really lacking in its use of the catalogue at the time

Well, partially. They nailed it for the most part. At least if they would have played The Musical Box in its entirety...
