That song reminds me a lot of Ulver's Bergtatt in its harder sections. I do prefer Beneath The Waves because of the acoustics. Can you recommend any bands in a similar vein to this one?

Well the most obvious one is Agalloch if you haven't heard them already. They're one of the best bands in metal today. Also you could check out early Satyricon, early Astarte, Bathory, Primordial and Wolves in the Throne Room.

Dude get Pale Folklore, The Mantle, and Ashes Against the Grain by Agalloch. All of them are amazing. All range from 4.5's to 5's for me. And my favorite from Wolves in the Throne room is Black Cascade although most people around here seem to prefer Two Hunters.

This was underwhelming but decent. Probably a 3 or so.

There was hardly anything memorable about it; if you've heard one track, you've heard them all. This style of music (the whole atmospheric black metal/post-rock fusion kind of thing) benefits from a cleaner production, so the way it was produced was kind of odd (especially the level of the drums). The harsh vocals were good but the cleans kind of sucked, and the riffs were hardly ever above-average.

I just ordered this along with Altar of Plagues debut. I'm hoping neither disappoint. From what i heard so far, it sounds awesome.

Altar of Plagues is generally good (barring the new EP). I haven't heard this really though

So good, there are a few places where the clean vocals are a bit sketchy, but overall this album slays.

Besides some of the quieter parts, I really fail to hear Agalloch in these guys but whatever. Actually the quieter parts remind me of older Opeth. Really enjoy your reviews Thomas!

So this band rules, I have no idea why they're mediocre or secondary in any regards to you guys. They're great songwriters with a ton of awesome melodies.

Doesn't do it for me. I'd rather listen to Agalloch.

This and Ancient Sorrows do it for me. They're new one feels like it they didn't really try to go anywhere new (it's still good though).
