I think this album could have done with a few less tracks and at least ten minutes off, but whatever, it's still an excellent album. There's a lot of variety, despite one or two songs sounding like each other ("It's Over", "Sweet talkin' Woman"), and "Mr.Blue Sky" is one of the most memorable songs to come from ELO's discography. I loved the instrumental "The Whale" and the quirky, upbeat nature of "Turn to Stone" too.

With so many great songs on the album its hard to pick a single favorite. The album manages to have many different songs on it without making them sound too similar to each other. The slower songs tend to have a wispy sound that flows from beginning to end while the faster songs tend to make you want to get up and dance. Somewhere around half the songs are love songs the album doesnt get boring in any sense of the word. The vocals are on point for every song and being accompanied by the violin makes for a very full sound that makes the album as a whole stand a cut above the rest in the discography

God, I hate Burningham Blues so much

Interesting that the review mentions it along with the Whale which is one of the best on here imo

Full of meticulously crafted pop with moments of sheer beauty sprinkled all across the record. I think Jeff Lynne is a some sort of a mad genius.

Album picks: Sweet Talkin' Woman; Starlight; Big Wheels; Summer and Lightning; Mr. Blue Sky

I'd pick Eldorado as my favorite, but this one is a definite ELO record.
