Damn, that second half of Satelite with the bass-line is soooooo good.

Sometimes I think this album gets too obnoxious. Then other times I think this album is awesome. But most of the time I think this album is obnoxiously awesome, so it balances out.
|
| |
What do you mean by that, because I can't see what about this could be seen as obnoxious.

This album can certainly get wanky
|
| |
I guess, but it's never in-your-face about it, at least not to me. It goes crazy but it just makes the songs more exciting. They build.

Haha shhh, NeutralThunder might hear us and come in here to gay up the thread.
Seriously, that guy is alright, but he never knows when it's time to stfu.

for some reason I can't stand mhmmmmmm...the vocals really annoy me
Besides that this album is a party....I still can't find the appropriate environment for listening to it.
|

True dat potato haha. I love MmmmHmmm, but I can see what you mean I guess. I love this for night driving, I use it to break up the non-stop Funeral Diner/Envy/Daitro rotation. Although I realize that seems a little strange....
|
| |
Atmosphere is another good one for night driving, but all I have by him/them is When Life Gives You Lemons... although that gets pretty heavy rotation, especially Yesterday, Dreamer, Music Box, etc.
Speaking of vinyl (kinda), I really want this on vinyl.
|
| |
Yeah pretty much, I mean apart from stuff like Godspeed or Coltrane, this is pretty much the best music for vinyl as a medium.
And I've been meaning to get God Loves Ugly for a while now, but I never get around to it. I'll get it right now.
|
| |
Yesterday is the epitome of lyrical genius I think, if it beats that I'll probs cry, seriously. I don't really like Isis or Godspeed too much honestly, but vinyl suits them better than mp3/headphones for sure.

You should really check out Dark Time Sunshine, sniper. The production is pretty similar to cosmogramma, in terms of the extensive use of synths and odd samples.
|
| |
i actually dl'd Vessels a while ago, I'll listen to it when I'm done with God Loves Ugly. And I should probs pick up FlyLo's other albums too considering I love the fuck out of this.
|
| |
That's what struck me so much with this too, it's very organic. Even my dad likes this album, and he pretty much only listens to jazz.

I love cold and mechanical sounding electronic albums. I love the sound of music that sounds electronic in the purest sense and the idea of somebody tweaking the parameters of a laptop or a hardware sequencer.
MJ's analysis of the humanization of electronic music in his merriweather post pavillion review is actually really interesting.
|
| |
I can appreciate what that mechanical sound does for electronic music, and sometimes it feels really good to listen to music like
that, but it has no staying power with me. I could never fall in love with music like that.
Edit: Which is why I tend to prefer trip-hop to electronica, although I'm not well-versed in either genre at all.
|
| |
Purely mechanical techno/electronic music is for doing ecstasy, and since I don't do that anymore, I find it to be pretty empty.

I think a lot of bands from the "idm" era managed to sound incredibly surreal yet meticulously programmed and tweaked. AFX, Squarepusher, and Autechre come to mind.

FEVER. FUCKING. RAY.
That just came to mind. If you've heard her solo album, it's very cold and serial. But it has such a dark atmosphere and epitomizes the cold, electronic sound in a really tasteful.
