lmao yeah i was reading the comments in this thread thinking “welp it’s gonna be underwhelming again” and then the p4k review is an 8.5 but he doesn’t rly talk about the album at all, just about how Phil is an emotional time sensitive wizard, a true seer with microscopic nonhuman human vision that is able to dissect the energy of each moment’s fleeting sentiment. a space alien centaur man with a chip on his shoulder. 8 point 5

I’d wager 2.5 is your absolute ceiling for the new one. Who knows though, surprises happen. Sometimes the Limeys take Agincourt

This band is called The Microphones on here and wikipedia but just Microphones on Apple Music so I doubt I'm gonna check the new album honestly

Microphil’s just going too far playing with his legacy like this

was watching a bunch of cool elverum videos from the early 2000s ln. the pete's candy store one where plays the mt. eerie album, the one in bloomington where he plays the glow pt. 2 good stuff

i guess this is just microphones in spirit as if he had an actual band for this revival they would have nothing to do but twiddle their thumbs or sway a lighter back and forth

For those who felt A Crow didnt have much replay value, I'm intrigued to see what they think about the new one. If I'm being pessimistic, I can't see it delivering much after a few listens, despite being a very interesting experience on the first spin.

love the part where he sings about seeing stereolab play one chord for 15 mins and getting super inspired lol

tbh he won me over, this is great
the opening like 10 minutes insinuated to me, based off my tempered expectations due to his last 3 Mount Eerie works, that the simple chord progression wasn't going to build to much of anything but then it really starts channeling all the shit that I ever loved about that project.
