A side is a classic, B side has the classic intoxicated but it's not without flaws... First of all why would you a make a song like words of evil an instrumental, when you could easily transform it into a classic throwing few lyrics here and there??

The rest of the songs are inferior to the ones from side A and not that strong compositions by todays standards, but hey this came out in 1989 and was one of the most extreme releases of it's time.. All in all a very good album but slightly overrated

Seeing these guys live twice now this year has really warmed me up to them. I had always thought they were pretty boring, but they're great live, and now I'm starting to really enjoy them even on record.

Good review! Of course this album is awesome, how could it not be? When you have a guitarist (Trevor Peres) who recreates that crushing Celtic Frost guitar style mixed with a lead guitarist who plays subtle Slayer worship solos and nuances, a drummer who is not only very athletic but also very precise and a lead singer with some of the most inhuman vocals ever put to tape. I’d say that’s a recipe for one hell of s brutal metal album. Now of course the next album is even better because how could it not be when you remove the Slayer style lead guitar and replace it with one of if not the greatest ever lead guitarist of the Death Metal genre and his melodic yet totally aggressive and tasteful guitar solos plus the fact that the band as a whole managed to step up their game in songwriting as well as performances. Both albums are must own for Death Metal fans without question.
