Better cut back on the salt intake buddy. That much sodium isn't good for you.

This is probably my least favorite album of theirs at this point. Everything from P2 on (or really Clear on I should probably say) actually sounds like a fully realized project by a fully functioning band. This one feels way too much like the Misha Mansoor band by comparison (which is what the band pretty much was at this point). Songwriting is really redundant throughout and leans hard towards Misha’s Meshuggah influence, the drums have really not aged well, and Spencer comes off as an inexperienced hired gun on here. Doesn’t really have the personality of their later stuff.

In 20 years it’ll still probably be seen as their best and most relevant work because of its influence but any semi-big Periphery fan will know they went on to do bigger and better things. Can’t really think of a parallel off the top of my head but there’s definitely a couple that exist.

I'm kind of mad that they removed the instrumental version of this off Spotify. Seriously, the one Periphery album that's better as an instrumental release (and would probably work fine if they re-recorded everything, like Ice Nine Kills did with Safe Is Just a Shadow) and they decide to wipe that version off streaming?

On a lighter note, Icarus Lives (specifically its instrumental) would be a badass WWE entrance theme.
