Yeah, there are definitely people who pretend to like a thing because they like the idea of being the kind of person who likes the thing rather than because of any actual enjoyment that they actually get out of said thing.
I know this partly because I used to do it heaps as an insecure teenager. I do it way less as an insecure adult, and I try to check myself whenever I do.
