Well, if Nick says its a 5, then I sure as hell need to get my hands on this album.......

White Pony and Saturday Night Wrist are the only two albums i've heard from these guys, but both of them were fuck-awesome.....

to Digital Bath, Knife Prty, Passenger and Change (In the House of Flies) in that order and come back to me
Did that, still not feeling this band in the slightest. They're still boring, just like BTBAM, Coverge, Opeth and Circle Takes the Square.

To each their own man. BTBAM bores the shit out of me, but I love Converge and Opeth. I have to be in the right mood, but if I am I love As the Roots Undo also.

All the pre-release, mental (or physical) masturbation over this is finally coming to a head(hed) i see. God I hope it blows over. This really isn't THAT good.

This is THAT good. The atmosphere in this album rivals White Pony and the songwriting and musicianship present in this album downplays the slight repetitiveness of the album.

This is one of the more complete albums the Deftones have released. Every song has a direction and they don't deviate from that. I think the highlight of the album is easily 976-EVL and This Place is Death. God, this is fantastic!

You're*.

But no, I don't think I am. There are some die hard, Deftones are the be-all, end-all fans on this

site. I'm not one of them, and neither are a lot of the people rating this album so well. Hell I'd

even be willing to bet that 50% at least have given this maybe 1-2 listens, seen everyone else cum-

staining themselves over it, then thrown up their rating accordingly with a comment like "Album

roolsz" or something.

White Pony DEFINED an entirely new atmospheric feel and threw it's creepy as fuck wrench into

mainstreams nu-metal music machine and made people who liked shit music change their ways or at the

very least opened their ears to a sound that otherwise would have remained undiscovered. It

presented a new aesthetic of violence and sadism, spiking the punch bowl of anger and sexuality that

most nu-metal (God I hate that term) based it self so righteously on. This expands on it, sure, and

has some great atmosphere and musicianship, but it doesn't set a new bar. It doesn't re-define their

sound. It merely gives it a bit more breadth.

well, that's certainly a legit point. Alas, it is a point I disagree with (well, the Diamond Eyes part of it, I'm with you 100% on White Pony).
