I guess you could say there are elements of blackened sludge tossed around in here. These guys pretty much own their own sound with a big bag of ruffles on the side.

Sludge has to do with the tempo and tones of the music (kind of a gritty feel). At least to me, it's all about the feel of the tunes. In this case, the guitar is fuzzed out hard and even the faster stuff on here feels like it's dragging it's heels.

Permanent Ice is pretty fuckin awesome. I guess i'll have to check these guys out, even if i've been losing a interest in doom for a while now.
Bloodcloz, sludge is a type of metal that is defined (usually) by downtuned and heavily distorted guitars with characteristics of doom atmosphere. It's usually played at slower tempos, but not all bands play slow style of sludge (soilent green, for instance). Check out Eyehategod, Black Cobra or even Soilent Green if you want some examples of sludge.
