Heh, great album, headed by a great man. I don't find him very weird at all, though I guess we're really alike.

I heard so much about SYL. I am getting this album, thanks and great review.

I have seen these guys live 3 times and they are just amazing. Very intense. However, on the CD, I don't know if they can ever make another "City" again. Though I love Alien it does fall short of City.

I love this CD. Such a pissed off record. Devin Townsend is indeed a metal madman. I have to say I am addicted to "Love?" (insert cheesy 80's song name pun here).

great album, skeksis, love? and we ride being the highlights. a mate lent me this a few days ago... he won't be getting it back for quite a while!!!

After first listen I felt this sucked big time, I couldn't remember anything from the album. About 3 listens after I had lost my mind to this pure greatness! All songs are good in their own way, We Ride and Love? being the best, tho I haven't listened to Info Dump even once. Heaviest album I own and like. I should get City next.

Info Dump was complete trash and not a good way to end an amazing album. Thankfully, they didn't do the same for The New Black. This Message Edited On 07.18.06

this album caught me off guard. Not thinking that SYL would back-up all the praise that i've heard about them. I like pretty much every single track off of this album.

What an intro! I creamed my pants when I first heard of these guys. This is by far my favourite album outta the lot. Alien is so much more heavy than the others. Don't know about 'Two Weeks' though It's a good song, but I found it pretty funny after listening to seven tracks of skull f***ing madness, to listening to Devin talk about going to the beach. By the looks of things, I wouldn't be surprised if he never left the studio

This album and City are about equally good I think in that they are both fucking amazing. I noticed that you mention his bipolarity which is also a fun fact about this album. Devin purposely stopped taking his medication for about a year to give the album a crazier feel. This might explain two-weeks?

Great album. So far, my favorite (I have The New Black, and their s/t as well as this.) Although I don't care much for the first two tracks. Maybe I need to give them more time.

Im sorry, I just don't see what is so good about this band. This album is very boring.

Perhaps it's the fact that they play at about 100 mph while maintaining a degree of musical complexity in the sense that they switch up time signatures, incorporate a fucking xylophone, and have a lead vocalist that is honestly the only vocalist that I've ever heard that actually scared me. Maybe it's the intensity if the music they create, with the grossly downtuned guitars, bass that sounds like a cannon, and rapid fire blastbeats.
It's like being run over by the great wall of China. This Message Edited On 06.22.07

Shitstorm is so scary. I mean, he really seems to have lost his mind. The lyrics are an insult to all the people who gave him hard time with his bipolar problems. The ''Fuck You'' high pitch scream gives me goosebumbs.

shitstorm is the best song on the album. no doubt. It love the drums in that song as well. Gene is the man.
