I recognize that most people found Death Cab via the O.C., but I've never actually watched the show. I discovered them back in 2003.

okay i can totally understand why u think the o.c. blows. i thought it did too until like this last fall. i hate to argue over a stupid little thing like this, but it really isn't just about rich kids and their irrelevant problems. the main character happens to be poor and living with the only normal family in a sickeningly indulgent town. not being rich, i tend not to idolize the rich preppy kids on the show. i realize that a lot of preps watch the show for the fashion and the irrelevant drama. however, it's a well directed, well written, and well acted show when you get past the preppy stuff. This Message Edited On 04.23.06

Great review. I was also really let down at this new album, they tried to be too professional like you said and to "sound more polished'. I think Photo Album and Transatlanticism were far better than this album.

i like death cab. my favorites are soul meets body and crooked teeth. and the cover is kinda ugly, but you can't judge a cd just by the cover.

I got into DCFC by my sisters and friend. I have heard the album "Plans" and the songs Tiny Vessels, California, Technicolor Girls. From what i have heard DCFC is an awesome band. I should listen to those albums "The Photo Album" and "Transatlanticism" from what I hear you guys say about them.

A bit slow for me but so musically impressive that it's hard not too like. My top 10 album from death cab :p

This album has some pretty awesome tunes. Some not so good ones too, but "Brothers on a Hotel Bed" and "Different Names For the Same Things" are two of the best songs Death Cab have ever done. I'm not a fan of "Crooked Teeth" or "Soul Meets Body".

and its kinda stupid that some of u are arguing about th oc i dont like the show but who cares if some people discoverd death cab from it. if u like death cab u had to of found them from some were soooo why couldent ot have been from oc?
|
| |
i sorta agree with ducktape
but you have to discover music through your own ways

doesn't make any sense about arguing where they heard them from because....its just music. There isn't a right or wrong way to find out about music.

I think this is turning into more of an argument about the OC then an actual thread about Death Cab.
I really enjoy this album, I have both Plans and Transatlanticism. But, i think my fav. song is one no one else has mentioned yet: What Sarah Said

i've never heard someone say the word piss and make it sound so beautiful...

It's a pretty mediocre album, even though Crooked Teeth ended up on my playlist more frequently than I want to admit...
