DEATH MUFFIN - you actually know people who think this band are emo!!! Oh my God...I have only just realised that Trevor is probably one of the best vocalists in modern metal IMO.

great album, definitely my favorite from the black dahlia murder

I thought this album sounded more raw and intense than Unhallowed, which I like a lot...
Trevor's voice has come a long way in my opinion, especially his lows which I was'nt a huge fan of through most of their earlier material...but his highs have always been a beast.
I can't ever get the ending for the solo in Statutory Ape outta my head...it's just so frickin catchy.
I though Unhallowed was pretty good, but I seriously dig this album!!
Way to go American Metal...

cravinov13 i find your comments to be hilarious. this band first of all have the most unique and amazingly well structured lyrics flowing with the guitar and drums as a 9mm would run out a police issued glock. i also find it funny how you seem to compare them to others as their multi-talented vocalist has the voice of satan himself. now next time your strangling yourself whilst yanking at your inch worm listening to marylin manson think does my opinion really matter, i think youll find the anwser clear.....NO!!!This Message Edited On 06.06.06

For the death metal argument. These guys are definatly not straight up death. They're gothenburg/death influenced but the majority of their songs IMO sound like the whole new wave metal (pseudo-metalcore) With the generic riffing, double bass and boring melodic guitar hooks.

I like this album better than Unhallowed. And WHO CARES if they're death or not. At least they sound decent.

I'm absolutely obsessed with these guys. Unhallowed stills stands above Miasma in my mind - mainly due to the lyrical content. Musically, Miasma may be superior, but I weigh a lot on the lyrics

Im currently digging this album! I love it! the blast-beats are fast and solid, the riffs are awesome and the vocal suit the style! I think their melodic death metal! There are blast-beats, growls, tremelo picked notes but their quite a lot of melodic in the riffs! I think their incredible

The fact is this band are much better than DevilDriver - and IMO they are death metal.
A band being good does not make them Death Metal or not.

This is a brutal record, and some of the songs are even catchy, but the album just never grew on me. I've listened to it at least twice through, and all it did was get more repetitive...

I just watched the for A Vulgar Picture, and unfortunately, it didn't do anything to change my opinion on these guys. They're one of the most painfully average bands I've ever heard. Trevor Strnad also has the worst death metal growls in metal. It really bothers me that Americans seem completely incapable of making melodic death without adding that overdone American/metalcore sound.

The instrumental work is good, as is Trevor's high scream. My only complaint with that would be the death growls like I said before, plus the guitarists are pretty awful soloists. The band has a distinctive sound and I'd no doubt like them a hell of a lot if they didn't seem to rewrite the same song 10 times for every album.
