we do trunk-or-treat cause lots of churches say that regular old candy-eating is mischievous and bad

i mean you still have trick-or-treaters but i've noticed a huge drop in the amount, in say 1999 the whole town was a candy fest and now you can drive for miles and not see a single costume, it's sad

^ Dude thats fucking gay

for those who dont know trunk or treat is where you go to church and get candy from the preacher's trunk

That just seems sad.

i'm not a fan of power metal but this album blows.

Helloween Reached their peak with this and unfortunately they will never surpass it.

Oh, and good review too.

Rock that song is from their debut EP ;-)

Also amazing.

"Helloween Reached their peak with this and unfortunately they will never surpass it."

In my opinion the next one is even better

I also have it.

That original song is sang by Kay Hansen. The version you have is with Kiske on vocals.

Victim of Fate rules. Great song

Keeper II is much inferior overall, this has quality over quantity whereas that has filler and an epic that just doesn't live up. Hansen's songs are all in the top and enough proof of why Helloween made a real mess of things after he left.

I don't agree.

Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. 2 is an amazing album.

However I agree when you say "Helloween made a real mess of things after he/Kay left"

By the way...Kay's first "solo albums" are also average.

Everybody lost with his departure.

I'm not saying Hansen (it's 'Kai', btw) guarantees quality, as I can well imagine he didn't do great after he left (only heard Land of the Free by Gamma Ray), but judging their tracks up to the Keepers, I always find he was the strongest songwriter during the classic Helloween era. I'm sure Weikath did his best, but even here on the first Keeper, A Tale That Wasn't Right, his sole writing contribution, is the weakest song for me.

"Kai" was obviously the strongest songwriter of Helloween's golden era. That's not the point.

I don't how much you know this band, but I assure you Weikath was (and still is) also very important.

I only disagree with your first comment:

"Keeper II is much inferior overall, this has quality over quantity whereas that has filler and an epic that just doesn't live up."

I'm just explaining further why I much prefer the first Keeper, no harsh words to Weikath, he had the burden of filling Hansen's position as a main songwriter which only put pressure on, and he did come up with some great ideas, but also some that aren't as convincing. Rise and Fall in particular should've been left off, joke track or not, and Keeper of the Seven Keys was not executed as well as it could have been, as much as I'd like it to be an epic as strong as Halloween.

Production's better on this one too, it has a lot of energy to it which is something I also miss on Part 2 when I compare the albums (which is inevitable). To answer your question as well: I do know more Helloween outside of their early days, definitely enjoyed some albums they've made since Deris has been their vocalist.

Yes the production's definitely better on this one, but part. 2 has also amazing songs like Eagle Fly Free, the humorous Dr. Stein, March of Time, I Want Out, Keeper of the Seven Keys or Save Us (Japan edition).

Their "Kai" era is definitely better but I also like Better Than Raw and specially The Dark Ride (Deris era best album IMO).

Criminally underrated band in the US.

'Halloween' is still a classic; the awesome intro, the crazy scream in the chorus, the insane guitar solos.

Halloween is quite possibly the best power metal song of all time. In this piece you have got everything you would expect in a song of this genre. Exactly what Black Sabbath is for Heavy Metal. It defines the genre.
