The songs on Weightless aren't near as epic as these though. I think the production is fine really, I mean, it's not great but it doesn't detract THAT much imo

the production is awesome here. It's so much more memorable than Weightless

"Production just like taste is subjective. I can see why people might like this pro, but I think its pretty bad. Their rhythm tone is a little muddy, and the lead tone is at times indistinguishable. The drums are noticeably synthetic, though properly mixed. Weightless is much better."

Production isn't really subjective though, I mean I can't record an album in a trash can and say it's just as well-done production-wise as Frank Ocean's latest y'know?

People having different tastes towards production ≠ production being subjective

That being said, I don't really care for the way that any AAL albums were mixed. Weightless definitely sounded too muddy, like in that one heavy song about 4 tracks in, ugh. And this one, I dunno I may prefer it but it's still not as clean as I'd like to hear

i think the production on this is cool because it's basically just Tosin and Misha jamming in Misha's bedroom. It's pretty impressive and interesting looking at it that way i think.

Yeah the one where Tosin plays probably too many notes

Whole thing is great. A good portion of the album is laid back and really atmospheric with a few scattered solo's...by no

means excessive wanking.

Give Song of Solomon another listen, Jacob. You might appreciate it a lot more.

I guess I feel like Tosin has a firm enough grasp on music as to where he should be able to come up with exciting riffs, and I never find AAL exciting. Whether the music's too crazy (here) or too straight-laced (Weightless,) I'm never particularly enthused about what the group's doing.
