I do not agree with this review altough, i think it is well written and in an objective way.



Converge did a very good job on Axe to Fall. Notice i said good not excellent or raping everything else that was release by them or anything in the genre this year. I think it's one of the best flowing album i've heard. Not being a huge fan of the overly fast/agressive style, i feel Axe to fall is quite easy to digest and that the sum is better that the parts.



I like the collaborations with other bands, it gives it an edge. As Converge being genre defining i think it open doors for evolution. Is there realy someone who will enjoy a full recording of what was shown in the first four tracks ? My Slayer days are long gone and i need progressiveness and variety. This is 2009, musicians must experiment to be one step ahead. I feel it is where Converge stands.



I must say that i discovered Genghis Tron through Converge and that their mix of electro / experiemental harcore (or call it wathever you want) is highly appreciated in my discography.



I listened to Jane Doe a few years back trying to get into Converge. It failled. ATF succeded. I was not hoping to like ATF this much but i do. it's not a five. I give it a 4/5.

Experimentation is no excuse, and its not going to change somebody's mind if they think the music is bad. Some experiments fail. A good musician doesn't record failed experiments.

I don't think ATF is failed experiments. I'm usually very sensitive to the slightest quirky pattern or missed harmonies. Sometimes I learn to like it, since it was obviously made voluntary, sometimes i don't. That's just me. What struck me here is that only good stuff came up. I guess It was Converge time for me !

A harmony can be flawlessly executed but if its bland to begin with, how well you play it won't change that.
