I like what they're going for but they just can't execute it at all.

Out of all of the tracks, I really liked "New Moon Rising", but I enjoyed all songs.
|
| |
I liked the album. Its not bad to be influenced by Hendrix, zeppelin or black sabbath. I can name numerous GNR songs that remind me of aerosmith or queen songs.
|
| |
The influences arent the problem, it is just the musicianship in general.

Sundial has a nice groove. Other than that, wank.

My copy has some bonus tracks which they have scattered throughout the album (which is fairly strange i guess) however one of the tracks 'Eye's Open' had a piano just come out of nowhere and it gave me goosebumps, the track was just pulled off flawlessly. Now I find out it is nothing more than a B-side...

Strangely, I want to get this.

I don't see why people hate this. It's about as generic as AC/DC, and their albums have critical acclaim. Go figure.

Still think this album sounds like it should be a Bill Baily show.

Wow, "Far Away" is total cheese. Like "21 Guns" cheese. Or "Sweet Child O' Mine" cheese.

their first album was enjoyable if you could get past the led zeppelin influence...but this just...isn't good. and i forget where i read it but whoever said this isn't as bad as the new jet, i agree
|
| |
it's like they ripped off from as many 70's bands as they could so to dethrone fellow countrymen (aka Jet) as the most popular least original band ever.

'far away' is a track that will slip through the cracks -- i relate to that track on so many levels.
though i didn't much care for the album, it also isn't bad. i'll still listen to it again once in a while

The music itself isn't terrible, but this band is a sort of Led Zep/Black Sabbath tribute band...
everything in this album has been done before, a lot better.
