thats a very friendly thing to say, i thought this site was used to review albums but to me it seems likes it focuses more on badmouthing someone when they make a bad review. Lol two of my friends said this happened to them, and now it happens to me.

Lol two of my friends said this happened to them, and now it happens to me. if you go to anyone's first review here, there's a lot of people critiquing the review for the purpose of improving the writer, or what you call badmouthing. people are only getting pissed at you because you're basically saying you think our opinions on pure writing skill are ridonkulous

Eh? Even Mastodon have come out and said that everything before Crack the Skye was just 'metal' and now they are branching out into more proggy aspects - havent they? Im sure I read that somewhere. This album didnt come across as proggy at all...

I have to agree with 'pretentious Derek', thats a pure hyperbolic statement. Its fine to draw comparisons, but saying stuff like that right off the bat - I dont even need to read the review to see the direction its taking.
Personally I think Crack the Skye sounds more like DT than this. By a long long way. This has always sounded like straight up metal, and its actually kinda boring for it imo.
And I just read the rest of the thread.. lulz. Guess I wasnt the only raising the eyebrows. :P We arent knocking your opinion on the album, just whats in the review. We can tell you are a fanboi of BM.

The statement still doesn't really make any sense to me. I think Mastodon is closer to Neurosis and ISIS than Dream Theater on this release.
