their interludes/non-music moments do I can tell you that much. But I still think judging an entire album of music, off of moments that aren’t even musically related, is a questionable philosophy to say the least. Do you just ignore the good after seeing one sliver of bad, which doesn’t even tie into their talents as a band?

"Also, please never listen to aenima by tool hahahahaha"
Ok, but can I listen to other Tool albums? 'Cause I want to.

You will hate them all most likely

Nah, I just find them completely boring. Besides, they have one of the worst fanbases in the world. Only Slipknot's is worse, but that's cause it's mainly 14-year-olds raging against their parents

I’m not really part of tool’s main fan base so idc or gaf about their annoyances (which I’m sure they can be)

Yes, I do understand why people find it questionable, hell, at first I ignored hidden tracks and stuff like that, but things change.
"Do you just ignore the good after seeing one sliver of bad?"
Mmmmmmmm... I'll admit that when rating something I give more weight to the bad than the good, I wouldn't say I "ignore" the good though.

Ok (I like what I've listened btw), but can I listen to them?

Like I wouldn’t even call that a “harsh” outlook on an album, there are other, more toxic, words I’d probably use. The whole judging kid a off of (unititled) thing.
From the way you like to roast constantly, it’s hard to see you not ignoring the good. Which I think isn’t a good way to perceive music. You don’t need to be critical 100% of the time, music is about enjoyment.

Ok, but can I listen to Tool? Except for Aenima, of course.

Yes but please for the love of god, don’t judge them off the interludes lmao

I can get behind that. But I guess for me it's one the factors that makes me dislike them even more.
And yeah, giving an album a low rating because of several minutes of silence in a track/one shitty track is kinda retarded. That's not how the score system is supposed to work, imperfect as it may be.

You know I will. Also, like, interludes can be good, they can be pretty damn good actually, so, yeah, that.

I pretty much only enjoy interludes that are tied to music or push the theme of the album further. But if they don’t work, I won’t judge them, I’ll just skip tf out of them.
For instance, do you actually think that people who do give this album a 5 say “damn that untitled track is fire” or people who give white album a 5 say “bro I’m always jamming hard to Revolution 9”?
Absolutely not. We just don’t care because it doesn’t reflect what we came to the album to hear: the music.

I swear people on this site are biased towards the skip button lmao. You don’t need to punish urself just to get “the full album experience” just find what you like, and if it’s abstract white noise skip that bitch

Yeah, imagine sitting an exam with 10 questions, each one worth the same number of points, and you got only one question wrong but still failed. Would be funny, wouldnt it
|
| |
I don't, if I ever want to listen to the stuff I like in an album I'm just gonna do it (hell, my favorite music piece of all time is in an album I rated with a 3.5), but that isn't going to change my rating.

That would be an unfair test

Obviously that isn't how I rate music, but ok.
