They’ve stuck around churning out ridiculously consistent albums (even if they never really stretched any boundaries),
Besides their last few failure of albums, I would believe you.
Suddenly, Chevelle is brooding, dark, aggressive, and completely immersive.
I have a feeling this album is going to suck (judging by the couple of tracks I've heard off this). Good review though.
Listen to Point #1 and Wonder What's Next. They've already done this.

I will still end up getting it ; ). Just saying, I don't have high expectations seeing as their last few albums were complete shit.

I didn't like vena sera either wizard. I did like this type of thinking though. I just got this and so far it seems pretty good, just did a minor skip through because im at work.

It's a good step forward for them, but I still just don't like this band or this type of music at all. There are some pretty strong moments on the album though... chorus of Mexican Sun is pretty good... in other words it's decent for radio rock. EDIT: And the chorus to Jars is pretty much the only good chorus to be heard on the radio right now, so I guess that's something.

hmmm i've never listened to point #1, i guess i should check it out. the title just always struck me as the most generic and boring album title you could possibly come up with. haha i'll check it out though.

I have really mixed feelings towards them. I love Wonder What's Next, and I think there are some terrific tracks from Vena Sera and This Type of Thinking, but it seems like they always manage to slip some godawful tracks onto their albums.

Never heard anything from these guys before, but the first track is pretty solid.
I'm guessing i'm not the first one to think that the singer reminds them of Maynard.

Ok, so this album was good. Better than Vena Sera and just as good as the oldies.

it's grown a little bit. probably at a 3.5 right now. needs a few more listens.

I liked Vena Sera most out of all the albums. Until I heard this. This album is fucking KILLER, especially "Shameful Metaphors"... the chorus caught me offguard and I couldn't help but headbang. Could. Not. Help. It.

^I know after I listened to the song, I kept singing "So why then, has all my life made not a sound...." so awesome.

Decent. Not great, atm I think I prefered Vena Sera. Highlands Appiration is the best, hands down.

This Type of Thinking is my favorite Chevelle album. I didn't care too much for Vena Sera

eh it's okay.
some of you might be too young for this, but there was this thing called nu metal in the late 90s/ early 00s.
cool cover art though

I don't like mexican sun at all, but the rest of the album is very good.

album is downright awesome. id put it on par with TTOT. although i disagree that this sounds like point #1. That album was more of a groove oriented album and this one is more of a feel oriented album. both are pretty killer though

"Chevelle was my favorite band growing up idk if i should get this"
I feel so terribly, terribly old when people say things like this.

I'm not sure I'll ever understand why the band chose title this Sci-Fi Crimes.
Just kinda . . . random.

I don't know, but the cover's pretty mysterious and cool. This is surprisingly good.

I'd say a good part of it is because most of the songs are stories, although I'm not sure what they all are. They're considerably more cryptic than Saferwaters or Humanoid. I haven't heard the older albums though.
