Yeah, they sure beefed up SotW for this.
First time I sit and jam a live album, but since this is considered one of the live albums, I had to do it.

You should check Strangers in the Night danny, probably one of the very few live albums that can touch this in the genre

Yeah man, I guess I'm a bit behind on some bands, but hopefully I'll get that fixed.

The midsection of this might take a while to grow on me, but overall I'm enjoying this.

Everything on here is better than studio [2], although most of the tracks sound phenomenal in the studio alone, especially "Child in Time."

It's like Popeye took a major dose of spinach.

That is indeed an amazing metaphor for a kick ass live album.

Popeye was the shit. I believe the series ran for about 40 years or so.
I mean sure, it was prob the most sexist cartoon ever, but still, it was badass.

I did like what my great-grandfather showed me of Popeye a lot when I saw it before age ten. Plenty of great
entertainment sure was coming out in his day, be it cartoons or music.

I believe most cartoons of that time (1930's-50's) had sexist and/or racist messages, but hey, it was a different time.

Certainly they would be a product of their time like that, but the skill used in making them is not decreased because of that. By the way, which track off of this album was improved the most from the studio to you?

Well it was only my first listen, but atm I'd say Smoke on the Water. The live version sounds wayyyy better than the studio version imo.

Yes, the improvs of the track gives the lyrical content of the song the musical justice it deserves. I most say though that I really love the added organ solo in "Child in Time" and how they turned "Space Truckin'" into an epic.

Deep Purple MK II is arguably the best live act ever. Their abilities as musicians along with their
chemistry is incredible. My only complaint about this album is that its content doesn't come from one
concert.
