The best thing about this album is the album art which is just stunning.

This album sounds very dated and dull.

The vocals are monotonous. The growls are weak and he has no range. The clean vocals are absolutely dreadful.

The song writing on this album is okay, but the keyboards are another drawback. At points they add to the atmosphere, but for the most part they make average tracks sound even worse.

The best track is The Castaway. Some good lead work here, catchy riff, and good drumming. The keyboards get a pass here.

There are some other decent riffs and melodies scattered throughout this album. Drowned Maid and To Father's Cabin come to mind.

Amorphis' cover of The Doors "Light My Fire" sucks big time. What a way to ruin a great song.

In conclusion this album is vastly overrated and cheesy among other things. I mean if it was given better production, a better vocalist, less keyboards, and no cleans I would place it in the top 5 for melodic death.
