When the album first came out I absolutely loved it, but after a few listenings I finally brought myself to accepting its flaws and how much they weighed in. Altogether I'd probably give the album somewhere around a 3.5/5. This is a relaxed and prolonged album, which is great for those late nights after a long, hard shift at work for me. I agree with the standouts and with "Lost Love" being a weak point, normally I really like Priest ballads but this one wasn't all that great. I also seem to be one of the only people who likes "War", I find it a well-paced, bone-chilling track. The album is long and symphonic, but since I love symphonic metal and tend to prefer longer material in-general (longer films, longer games, even longer releases when they work/flow well), I enjoy it more than most.

Good review though, glad to see someone who doesn't hold it in high regard can at least point out the strong points. And though I like the album very much, it's still not something I'd want to see the band tackle again, it's something best served/offered once.

@JacobsLadder: Obviously I'm also gonna do the new live one. Otherwise I wouldn't have done the other four either ;). And also, if this was to be the last one, I would probably have clearly indicated my joy at the finishing off their discography, hehe.

My purpose exactly.

@FadeToBlack: Oooh, someone's read all of my reviews.

Kidding. That's the sort of comments you do it all for. It was definitely my most ambtitious, and probably longest yet. I try to bring in something new when an album has already quite some reviews, like I tried with Painkiller. I feel I succeeded here more, however.

I thought the song War was pretty awesome when it came out, but now it is kinda boring.

Hey Nag I've been away for a while with mah band, missed a load of your reviews. This one's great, as expected and I found the album disappointing too.
I guess another pos couldn't hurt :-)

Ok, here comes the fanboy!

I could go on for ages explaining why I really like the album but at the end of the day, I give this a 4.5 from a fan's point of view, and if i'm being critical, a solid 4. This album just has too many enjoyable moments for me to put it any lower.

good review as usual.

@Conor: You can always catch up with them later. I had noticed your absence.

@Alligator: I've reallllly gotten all good points about the album into the review. Couldn't get it highter than a 3. So, what makes it a 4.5 for you?

Well to be honest It feels more of a complete package than most priest albums, it has one of the best openings to an album (Dawn of creation to Prophecy is just genius) I like the fact the band were not scared to tone back on the metal, which sounds stupid and I can see why many people were dissapointed with this decision.

Also i'm a huge fan of concept albums, and feel they pulled it off, although only just (hence the .5 off) and at the end of the day I just love the band, AOR was my favourite and so production wise this album sounds really fresh.

I've just finished work so if this comment made next to no sense then I apologize lol.

I think gaslightanthem just finished work, so Alligator's comment probably makes next to no sense to him.
