I'm not going to say it's great

Your rating tells me otherwise...

I haven't made my mind up for Jugulator yet, though. Currently have it at a 2, I believe, but a review will require more listening, since I didn't give it an ear since I rated it, quite some time ago.

I agree, review some Accept. Or UDO. Just as long as it has that banshee troll on it.

Oh, and as for the album, am I the only one who finds Turbo Lover kinda cachy?

This is probably Priest's worst album (at least from the Halford years), but I think that a 1/5 is overly harsh. Yes, much of it shamelessly panders to teens; yes, the lyrics are full of rock cliches; yes, most of the songs are overly simple; yes, there's too much synth. But Out in the Cold is a pretty good song & an exception to most of the above generalizations, Turbo Lover sounds good & has a great feel to it, & most of the songs have a decent level of entertainment value. With the possible exception of Parental Guidance, I don't find any of it paiful to listen to, which is much more than I can say for a lot of Rolling Stones albums, most hip-hop / rap songs & every country song I've ever had the misfortune of hearing.

Maybe I just don't understand how to locate the ends of the scale.

Funny - you dislike what I like and I dislike what you like.

We both agree on the Brian Johnson-AC/DC similarity on Wild Nights, though.

This to me is the biggest reason why Iron Maiden wins over Priest. Once in a long while I'll put on some glam/hair metal like Ratt, Def Leppard or Bon Jovi, but I don't expect much less want stuff such as that from this band. This turn to a then more commercial sound may of won them some short term gain in fans and sales, but as most of us know by the early 90s, the hair bands had fallen out of vogue never to return. 1986 is very possibly my favorite year in metal album-wise, but Judas Priest sadly wasn't a major player in it like earlier years or in 1990 with Painkiller.

Unfortunately the greatest hits album I bought contains a song from Turbo...Then again, Greatest Hits generally are quick money grabs anyway, so very reminiscent of this album, and have nothing to do with how good the songs are, so I should really consider buying the good of their works.
