Hihi os! That might very well be the case.
Those averages seemed so promising when I first gave them a go but apparently only their early middle works (2000-2003) made a lasting impression (and the first three). Still come back to these acclaimed middle and later works sometimes but to be honest: to me they're a slog to go through.

Yeah what is it about these records Art? Can you put a finger on it? Because I don't really get what puts me off. Monotony? Weaker vox? Less exciting songwriting? I really don't know.

there's just no actual problems in these albums. i truly enjoy listening to this, and then there's just not much that makes me go back to it. same thing with ruun and isa, it's sort of a faceless era of enslaved for me

I really like this era so can't entirely agree, but I will meet you halfway sort of ish. I do believe that from axiom onwards they've been stronger than this era.
