Swedish producers Bloodshy & Avant team up with U.S vocalist Andrew Wyatt to form electro-pop trio Miike Snow. Far from aiming at either the clubs or the charts, the sound on their self-titled debut LP is often piano-driven mid-tempo fare that is backed by slick beats & electro flourishes. Wyatt’s soulful vocals & some rather interesting lyrics add uniqueness, but this is still deceptively catchy stuff, with enough intricate layers & melodies to give good replay value. Unfortunately, it never hits a home run & all gets a bit samey over its front-loaded 47 minute duration. Recommended Tracks: Sylvia, Song For No One, Animal and Black & Blue.

In Search Of has grown on me massively having been played over and over on my fifa world cup game, as
have lots of other songs on the soundtrack. I might have to listen to this
