I actually defend the hell out of this album even if I don't like it nearly as much as their earlier work. I think it was a change of pace and an evolution in their style that they clearly wanted to make and it turned out excellent for what it is. A lot of people attack this as a sell-out album but I really think that it was just a new direction that Metallica wanted to take and they did it incredibly well.
I still can't find anything good to say about St. Anger though, and I doubt I ever will.

There is that one time when it stops, and that noise no longer goes through your speakers.
|
| |
Thats when you know your ears won't go deaf from post black album. Ugghhhh. Good review though.
|

Priestmetal - I never called you an idiot, as you seem to be capable of arguing a point :D Touche, okay. Peace. It's just that I really, really hate the term 'selling out' as its only meaning seems to be 'I don't like this band anymore so I'm gonna turn around and start hacking them out.'
And I notice Heldbackbytheban appears to have been, well, banned. Now I look like I've been talking to myself.
|
| |
Yah I was banned. LOL. I didn't do anything though. I didn't insult anyone. I didn't neg vote anyone.
Now I look like I've been talking to myself.
Now that you mentioned it, it really does. And man, do you hate yourself.
Heldbackbytheban. Banned for spamming every review on the front page with variations of "it takes x for x, that's why I chose you. e.g "It takes a longitudinal narrator to emancipate a longitudinal narrator, that's why I chose you." He also just went for the more conventional approach of inane insults.
Tis' what I've read, won't be a bitch and post you're back again so don't worry. If that really is you again HeldBackBytheDay(Ban).
|
| |
Mods have already said there's nothing wrong with signing up under a different name if you're banned anyway, so he's fine.
I'm a little confused though. I hadn't seen him do anything wrong. What Med had down sounded very strange.
|
| |
I don't understand it either.
|
| |
I didn't understand the ban either. I made this user name and posted my devildriver review under both users. Heldbackbytheban and ManMadeGod. I made manmadegod because I had to reput the devildriver review I wrote on again, and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Thus I made this user name, that was before Heldbackbytheban was banned.
I never said the quote Med put in there.

this is the album i grew up listening to, so this is definately a classic in my mind. as far as metallica goes, its definately different than their earlier stuff, but not in a bad way. its more heavy rock than thrash and I personally consider that a good thing. Every one of their albums (with the exception of St. Anger) has had that 1 or maybe even 2 songs, especially the ST that really made you love metallica for the songs that they produce, different than the previous album or not. this album is not a sell out album, its just different. so if you think they're sell-outs, get over yourself. the album had its moments, no doubt. it also had its bad moments, as ALMOST all albums do. so if you dont like the album, dont blame it on being different, blame it on being a bad album.
|
| |
Yes all albums have bad moments, you never heard slayer or megadeth coming down to this level? Even megadeth's lastest album was way better than anything metallica has done since the black album. Slayer's newer stuff is not as thrashish as say seasons or reign in blood. BUT they still kept their sound and its great still.
|
| |
Megadeth's Risk was easily as bad as this, from what I have heard.
|
| |
No megadeth album is worse than this. none. Even the system has failed tops this by far. Don't even mention St anger, thats not music.
|
| |
load's lyrics are the best on all metallica cd's, i personally don't like this cd but it isn't that bad, there are a couple of good songs there like "ain't my bitch", "outlaw torn" which is dedicated to the terribel loss of the bass god cliff burton (RIP), but besides that songs the cd isn't genius
|
| |
I liked this album....but its really nothing to master, justice, and the black album...I like how they never try to have two albums sound the same but this album is half of what the older stuff gives out
|
| |
The Outlaw Torn is such an amazing song.

This is the worse metal album of all time, because it is NOT metal, duh!
The biggest problem with this record is the name Metallica at the cover. If this was titled as a side project of the members of the band it wouldn't have been this criticized. I don't think the band really cares, it is not actually a problem, but their so called fans would be a lot more satisfied if they did that.
Anyway, it is a GREAT rock album. Not just good. GREAT. ReLoad is crap, I'll give you that. But this is gold.
|
| |
No it's just a decent rock album. Songs like Cure and Wasting My Hate pretty much suck.
It probably gets more hate than it should, but it's still of lesser quality than their metal albums, even I, who hate metal pretty much, can see that.
This is the worse metal album of all time, because it is NOT metal, duh!
Uhh, what?
