This album is my second favourite behind Master of Puppets.
The review was good, and went into quite a bit of detail about the songs. However, I dont agree with your rating of Sad but True.
This album was very different, as you mentioned, and, that is why I like it. It was kind of a brave thing to do, to change their style all of a sudden.
And you gotta love the guitar solo in enter sandman.

Album raiting 3/5
This album was to me the downfall of Metallica's music from this album on out the rest of the albums were garbage. The hits on this album are good but the other songs that didn't make it on the Radio suck.

well i love this whole album i think it would be probaly there best album with the best song being of wolf and man, its hard to find good music, like the old classics. music has change so much in the last 15 years but nothing beats the classicsThis Message Edited On 10.31.05

I think music was more varied 10 years ago, now there are people who really criticise something that have potential in their music but they criticise it just because it doesn't fit into their taste which is so unfair.
I think that this is their most accessible album and IMO, their 3rd best album.

^^^
Pick a different one, those two albums already have too many reviews written for them. Write one for Reload.

great album, not their best, but brilliant nonetheless.
i'm suprised by the rating for "don't tread on me," its one of my favourites on there tbh!
you mentioned that they released it as a single, but did they do a video for it too? because its the only single off this album who's video i havn't seen...

I've spent some time to think of something nice to say about this album.....
...... the drum production is excellent. Otherwise there is nothing, and I mean nothing, good about this album. I was a die hard Metallica fan until this came out. Absolute crap.

I thought every Metallica album was a mixture of excellent and good until St.Anger which was absolute crap.

I have seven Metallica albums, including that pile of crap that was "St.Anger". The production on this album was flawless yet for the sake of commercial success they lost that cutting edge which was present on the four albums before. This album has some amazing songs it though and some of the riffs are exceptional. Lars' drumming is spot on; the good thing about it is that its simple yet so fucking powerful it is like aural punishment.

enter sandman is the worst song on this album

St. Anger was a great album considering all the work was shared and no songs had any meaning behind them. And the black album's probably the best metallica album (after RtL and MoP of course)This Message Edited On 12.17.05
