I'm your words is a banger of an opener. Especially love the guitar work during the verses and the bass work at the end

Pretty much true other than for As The Palaces Burn. That album's actually great

I used to dig Ashes, but I doubt I'll ever get back into these guys.

still listen to them at the gym occasionally

I've got nostalgia for worse things, so I don't fault anyone for listening to these guys, but I just never formed a connection with this band.

They were the first band I ever listened to with a more harsh vocal approach

idk why this is the LoG album that grew on me the most. i know it's pretty basic songwriting but it riffs and grooves like a mofo
reclamation is a hell of a track

Both Palaces and Ashes for me. It's not really nostalgia speaking on my part, since I never used LoG as a "gateway" band (was already into the more classic metal before I got in touch with most of the modern stuff). I just happen to feel that back then LoG was basically the only band out of the so-called "NWOAHM" that was doing this style really exceptionally well. They were also a killer live band in those days - I'd even say they're still a solid live band nowadays. In terms of their studio work they took a nosedive after Ashes tho imho

weird that they'd put 3 of their best post-ashes songs as bonus tracks. shoulder of your god kicks so much ass
