b) saw them live a week ago, they're heavy as shit (just two brief "atmospheric" interludes, the rest was so much more heavy than I expected it to be) and really awesome.

Actually, I find this to be quite the opposite. This has way more to offer in terms of diversity. They lost their shoegazey characteristics on Black Cascade, which could have been incorporated into the album so well. Now they are just straight up black metal. I need diversity.

Just got this on cd yesterday at last as i've had to wait for them to actually repress it  But got it now and on first listen i'm loving it "Looming Resonance'" atmospherics really zone you out before "Hate Crystal'" aggression comes along and haves you running round the cascadian mountains from some unknown predator scared out of your mind. Awesome EP
