I don't know whether to blame Howard Benson or the band for ruining themselves.

is it really that bad
some of the later songs on the previews didn't seem quite awful
the first half was just a 1.0/5
wonder if I should shred it up for a review

god that first track is hilariously awful
it was released a while back but i'm relistening
jesus christ
even youtube agrees (????):
"Not gonna lie, the new Red is not clicking with me like a lot of the old Red did. Sounds so much more...mediocre and basic. Their old sound was so unique and awesome, and this is definitely not that. I'm still a big fan, but I'm also a bit disappointed with what I've heard off of this album so far." +10

Glass House is probably one of their best songs ever

album as a whole is awful though

Yeah the two bonus songs should be released, currently just listening to it on some dude's youtube playlist and he has them both in it.
It's not horrid just from the first few songs I've heard. The lyrics are really bad, but it's "listenable".

Don't insult Red they are fantastic

Oh maybe I'll check em out.
The lyrics are awful, yeah, but the music is equally as bad. Like really, the generic alt metal screams do not sit well with me.

I can't decide if I like this or not. There is some good, but is usually followed by things equally as bad.
Also, the intro/main riff of Shadows sounds almost exactly like the main riff of The Clincher from Chevelle. It doesn't really fit with the rest of the song either. It's very melodic except for that one riff, which just sticks out.

I enjoy that song and I think that riff makes it rather more interesting.

It kind of annoys me when bands do that. I think Breaking Benjamin does that a lot too. They will put a heavy intro/main riff and then have a really melodic rest of the song (and then maybe a short heavy, slightly altered version of said riff for a bridge). It just feels kind of shoehorned in if you don't have some other heavier sections to put it with. It's just really nice, melodic section and then bam! heavy ass riff followed by a nice, melodic section again.

Well, Shadows was co-written with Benjamin Burnley, so there you go haha.

Yeah, Shadows definitely does that heavy riff + melodic rest of song, but it never bothered me personally. Shadows is still up there as one of my favorite Red songs.
|

lol, nice. I guess I wasn't too far off there then.
Some of the heavy to not so heavy stuff just has some poor transitions. It's not bad overall from what I have heard, just something that a lot of hard rock "mainstream" (if you want to call these guys that) bands tend to do.

And that list could go on and on.
