the fact this came out as late as ‘77 makes it seem really basic, ngl

Very ‘in the box’ for prog. KC / Yes in 69-73 did way more ‘out there’ stuff and even after that KC wrote the ultimate ‘cohesive’ prog rock album in Red - which still sounds more advanced in comparison.

Pink Floyd peaked with WYWH, which was a testament to their understated and dialled back (but emotionally sensitive) song-writing. Better as an art rock band, essentially they weren’t as ‘prog’ as normies would let you believe.

Also, this is mostly boring.

"In the box" what does that mean? Also, there are degrees of this bands' "peaking". Although I do agree with you sort of with the band "peaking" on Wish You Were Here, but I have to disagree. Aside from Dark Side Of The Moon (great album) The Wall was their "peak" lyrically, conceptually and non discordant, especially coming from Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here. I guess it's about what someone goes through in life to experience these special moments in a bands discography, but objectively, the band "peaked" with The Wall.

It's a concept album about the person who used to be the alpha in the band. It's very cathartic once you realize how he went off of his rocker and the band still hailed him as a God. Literally 3 albums, but The Wall is mostly dedicated to Syd.

in order for this to be true it would have to actually be a band effort which it most definitely wasn’t
