This record definitely gets too much hate. I thought it was a much more consistent as well as melodic album than Juturna.

All the songs are great but they're all real melodic and start to sound samey after a while that's the only beef i have with this album.

Circa Survive are some of the best live performers I've seen and I have to admit this album has grown on me.

So I just found out the colored vinyl repress of this sells for ~$100 on e-bay. I have the original picture disc, which is a fucking sweet record and all but it's my least fav of theirs. Might have to sell that.

Same here, don't know why I disregarded it so much. I may like it better than Blue Sky Noise.

Living Together is my favorite Circa opener

what is this band like?

They are like if you took a modern post-hardcore/indie band and put a ton of delay on.

This is wrong, this is wrong, and I cannot sleep without the radio on. And how could anyone?

Juturna's my favorite, and this is a very close second.
With an effortless smiiiiiiiiiiile, you've proooooooven to beeeeeee

I can never finish a full CD. If a song comes on my random playlist I will jam out, but otherwise I never really listen to it. I traded this and Juturna for a Dear Hunter and Explosions in the Sky cd.

With 2nd LP 'On Letting Go', Circa Survive look to retain the dreamy atmospherics of their debut, while infusing their sound with greater melody. To some extent, this logical progression is achieved successfully, with this album carrying greater diversity & hooks. Furthermore, there is more significance placed on greater cohesion between Anthony Green's distinctive vocals & the quintet's musicianship here. While tunes do still bleed into each other a little too much as the LP progresses, this is a satisfying step in the right direction. Recommended Tracks: The Difference Between Medicine and Poison is in the Dose, Living Together, Travel Hymn & Kicking Your Crosses Down.

Simplistic drumming? Are you kidding me? Listen to Mandala and say that his drumming is "simplistic", or the killer The Difference" groove. His chops are killer and his drumming is better than most bands out now.
And drumming isn't always supposed to be extremely advanced and technical, he's just playing to the song, and throwing in some nice rudimentary licks.

Circa's drummer is pretty good. He could definitely be a bit more creative, but I wouldn't say it's simplistic. Definitely not Chad Smith style drumming.

Your Friends Are Gone is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Soft spot for this album and I'm not sure why because everything else tells me most of it isn't that great
