What are you talking about man, I think the vocals are the best thing about this album.

It's just not really any good. Not bad either, but not good.

Musically its very good, vocals are even better, that doesn't = 2.5 or even a 3. But maybe you disagree muiscally? im heading 3.5-4 for this after a couple listens.

Have you even read the review dude? The vocals are good yeah, but the rest is boring as all hell. I can listen to like two tracks before I'm sick of the album.

This album is ok, I'm really surprised that Akerfeldt has such diversity in his vocals. However, the departure of Dan Swano seems to have hurt them a lot

I enjoy the songs I'm hearing off their Myspace. It lacks dynamics though...I guess you could say. The drums are well done but the problem is they are tuned really low (for the recording direction they took on this album, it should probably be a bit higher, slightly brighter in tone.) and the bass/snare are pretty muffled for what I'd expect.

Of course, the vocals are solid as they were before. I'll check out the CD and give my thoughts though...I mean, I thought Unblessing The Purity was awesome...This deviates a little from that though.

BLACK METUL IS MY LIIIIIIIIFE

Also, some new kid at school today chastised me for listening to Opeth; something about Atreyu being much more "hARdcORe".

Pretty good review though...

Their EP was massive, I really love it. I agree with you on this album, though. Great review.
