I think they were trying something new (nothing wrong with that) but it just doesn't suit them.
And having Drainman as a producer was an oddball choice indeed. I haven't listened to Disturbed properly since Believe (I would've been in my teens lol) so maybe I'm biased.

This is their best album by a long shot. The songwriting, The musicianship, all of it was top notch. Didn't care for In Waves too much, Shogun was THE album when i was in high school. Just gone back to it as a matter of fact and how i've missed it lol. Could be based on a nostalgic opinion but still. Vengeance Falls never really clicked... I'll give it another chance.

Ya Shogun was amazing back in high school. Still a really good album in its own right

Yeah, too bad they never really progressed as a group. I think this album is excellent, despite it being derivative. I just love the songs.

Pretty much a musician's wet dream. Awesome album though, while it does falter at points.

Hands down their best album. Ever. I dare you to defy me!! But seriously, their peak for real.

This review (for the most part) does not give the album the justice it deserves.

Up there with The Crusade imo. Also Ascendancy rocks too

Not hating The Crusade, but I don't see how this is "up there" with it. It trumps it hard.

I love The Crusade. I feel like it's largely overlooked, but it's just my opinion. Other than that there's also a lot of nostalgia in this album for me. Also on Shogun but it's not the same haha

Not a fan of this band, but Down From The Sky is a brilliant song

I'm a big fan of this album, just wish it (the non-special edition) was shorter.
