Remaster fixes the production and that's all that really needed to be fixed, outside of cutting a song or three.

I will admit if these song where shortened to about 5 mins a piece it would be better off, same with St Anger, my only qualms with this album though lol (production as well obviously)

Revisiting this unfairly unloved one, on reissue 2010 jap ed (sound is very good on this). Re-listening session much better than expected. Bumping my rate to be self consistent, the only rating thing that really matters (the rest is mumbo-jumbo and you all know it)

"Broken, Beat & Scarred", still full of groovy riffs. "The Day That Never Comes", still a fully great piece. "All Nightmare Long/The Judas Kiss/Suicide & Redemption", i do like these Long metal tracks.

Good old Metallica doing what they are known to do and doing it well. Of course, LP appreciation polarize to the extreme, fashion of our era, happens everywhere, in every possible sphere of our fucked up connect world, to the point of collapse, get use to it, not gonna end soon.

Totally agreed that this big album is definitively very far from perfect. 3.75/5 :]

I really enjoy this album. Do not understand the mixed reception here much. That Was Just Your Life and The Unforgiven III are some their best songs.

Having just listened to Ride through Justice back-to-back, this definitely has more of a conventional sound and style, but I agree that it's an enjoyable album.

"Do not understand the mixed reception here much"

Tbf, this isn't the only site that's given it a more mixed reception. There are plenty of other reviewers out there who only consider it a middling record, and while I obviously disagree, I can certainly see their side of the argument

I'd still give a shot to the iTunes remaster if you like this, on the loudness database the Japanese 2010 SHM-CD is just as DR3 as the original CD

I like this album way too much for what it actually is lol. I got into this before some of Metallica's classics, so not sure if that has anything to do with it. The solo on "The Day That Never Comes" absolutely slays to this day.

The guitar hero mix and remastered (itunes or whatever) makes this a decent record. I really like the opener, it encapsulates AJFA Metallica the most since... Well, AJFA

that's one of the best songs on here tbh, tho it goes on for wayyy too long. cut it to 5 minutes, and it's a fuckin pure banger.
