I almost got to open for MOTA on their tour with Rosetta and City of Ships but they had to drop. Was a bummer. I was fucking high on this and Ties back then.

I only ever saw them open for Mastodon on the Blood mountain tour.

Ok, so this one is rather good, nice. I needed some more post-metal in my life and this is hitting the spot... there’s a fair amount of creativity on offer here, which is refreshing to hear in a genre often criticised for its derivative nature and lack of progression.

You may be right, close though...
Does anyone know what the sample is in ‘Hate and Heartache’, heard it used before by another band - ‘Maybeshewill’ (if anyone’s bothered).

Quite a few songs have used it, it's just a great monologue.

Really love this one, so varied yet significant restraint shown at 55 minutes, they pack so much into that runtime though.

Their entire discog is arguably the best in the genre..

Woah, high praise from you Teamster. I know you listen to a lot of post-metal. For what it’s worth I’m convinced that the people who admire a handful of bands (particularly the ‘big 3’ + maybe Rosetta, Pelican, The Ocean), but dismiss the wider genre are completely wrong. Post-metal has a lot to offer, it’s seems as broad as the name should suggest as well. I still have loads to check though, really looking forward to it.
I know you have a list somewhere, that should help.

Rosetta's first 3 crush everything in the genre for me, but they've always been my favorite. Trying to speak objectively, I don't think anybody stands up to CoL's catalog.

Guyman - Salvation and Eternal Kingdom just aren’t as good as the rest of their stuff. I like them a lot but just a bit short. Wake/Lift is my second favorite post metal of all time, just behind Wavering Radiant.
