Another great review where you put your opinions over very well!
I originally rated this as a 4.5 after the first few plays and I still consider to be superb after 30+ plays.
"And the Mirror Cracked" is still my favorite, which I never skip-over as I think it is a classic. The only one I very occasionally skip over is "A Day By the Lake", but usually listen through the whole album.

Like I said in the last paragraph, either you will instantly hail it as genius and stay that way, or you will start to realize there is more to this album which doesn't appear on first listen.
Still a good album though, I listen to "Fall" quite a bit and I still love that track.

"Fall" is probably my second favorite on the album.
I still think the album is superb and for me it is virtually as good as Insomnium - Above the Weeping World.

It's hard to compare the two because they are two different genres.

Crysis - I know that you rate "Above the Weeping World" highly, as I've read the review. I was trying to point out that I consider "Back to Times of Splendor" to be virtually as good (forgetting genres).

Yeah I see what you're saying, genres aside I think that ATWW just has that certain niche I absolutely love in music (actually all of Insomnium's discography is like that). When I first heard "Fall" on youtube I was completely floored, I expected the entire album to be like that. While there are quite a few moments of awe on this album, the whole thing as one entity just doesn't rub me the right way.

i agree with u so far crysis, this is good but not amazing, some really great parts but that doesnt make a great album, im stuck between a 3-3.5 right now.

I think the album is great up until that last track, then it makes me cringe. And this guys voice drives me nuts sometimes as well, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's almost funny.

The title track is beastly though, you've got to admit it.

Yeah, this album is something else. I'm not 5'ing anything except Gunther and Crotchduster, but this is as close to getting a 5 as can be. I wonder if it'll all wear off like Crysis says

THERE IS ROAD THAT I MUST TRAVEL, MAY IT BE PAVED OR UNSEEN!
The title track is my jam.

I AM noticing some slight imperfections, though, like Crysis says. Nothing which would make me think this isn't amazing, though
