“It's a beast, probably the most underappreciated CoL”

It had huge boots to fill after SATH and I remember the band saying at the time that they made a conscious effort to move away from what was an oversaturated ‘post rock’ market, hence the dirty tones and dissonance that pervades the album. It has a particular atmosphere to it, no doubt influenced by the bizarre circumstances that inspired it. It’s now one of my favourite CoL releases.

Ghost Trail is one of their best songs.

not at all frogmaster. the interludes are cool by themselves, and the rest is some of their more 'artsy' material. non of the songs dip below a 3.5/5

Ghost trail is amazing yea, rest isnt

Guitar work took a huge hit here, atmospherics arent up to par with the execution of their earlier work, too many sections of songs have 2 much boring

This and vertikal are the only col albums I'd consider to not be good

atmosphere is different, yea. feels more whimsical and 'fantastic' considering the themes. the riffs rule too. ending outros to Owlwood and Betulas rule face, plus when they toured this the songs were massive as heck.

Would love to see em live , think I could have for mariner but I screwed up

Owlwood is good too the other songs are just very skippable to me, it's just not on the level songwriting wise that the previous two lps were at

bet if you compared their songs side-by-side many of these would top some old ones.

Ghost Trail is life. You get that effing transcendental clean riff and a black hole of heaviness in the same track.

This album is awesome, all tracks are amazing. After a not so bright SatH, it was great to recover the best CoL version.

This is great but I think SatH is still my top for them. Then again CoL has an extremely solid discog
