Well, yeah, it more or less comes down to personal preference I just like this one more. Hit me harder the first time around and it's stayed that way ever since.

Cool. I'll probs pick this up in the next couple of days then. If it's supposedly as good or better than Effigy then I can see me liking this.

If you don't yet have a hard copy of Effigy, be sure to get the "two from the vault" release.

Yeah that's what I got too. I was a bit disappointed at the lack of extra liner notes and stuff though. Still worth the buy.

Yeah, I saw one of those in Virgin not long ago, going for £6. That's what I paid for Effigy alone ages ago. Major disappointment. Could have saved pounds!

Somethin' weird about the first song, as it goes along, the riffs sound more and more awesome the second and third times around.

I was going to pick that up but chose not to because apparently it comes with no liner notes whatsoever. I ended up buying both albums separately for cheap and they both had the liner notes.

easily on my top 10 favorite death metal albums

Pierced from Within is an absolutely essential component of death metal canon, if not for its crushing brutality and technical propensity than certainly for its sheer, clear influence on not just death metal, but metal as a whole.
Now I see your point of view after finally getting around to this. Probably of my top 10 death metal albums as well forever.

Necrophagist would not exist if they didnt have Suffocation to rip off so saying Necrophagist's anything is better is moot. They just took this formula and made it a lot flashier.

Necrophagist formed two years after Suffocation and recorded their first demo one year after Suffocation released their first LP. I don't see how they could have "ripped them off". Not only that, but Necrophagist is from Germany so it wouldn't be that easy for Muhammed to get ahold of Suffocation's EP or LP at that time, especially since Muhammed was only 17.
