"The whole ambient atmosphere given off by the instrumental side and then Kieth's and James' vocals makes this album almost surreal.
The Tide and Mindless: Mindless are my two favorite songs of all time (:"

I think this is a pretty crappy album, I mean, I never really took the time to listen to it, but from what I heard it just sounds like a generic release. Birth Eater is fucking amazing, and the new direction they took with Clean Head is awesome too. I just really can't dig this album though

Does no one miss the instrumentals at all? They alone on this album were good enough to make it a 3.5
at least. Reach for the Sky is freakin amazing. I love that ending. Birth Eater isn't bad, but just
put all the songs in a bag, shake em up, draw one out, and you have no idea which song is it because
they all sound the same.

I've been listening to Oceana ever since I discovered them in 2010. The first song I heard by them was Hello Astronaut, and I got instantly hooked. I do enjoy Keith's vocals on this album even though at some parts they can be a little bit too rough. I'm not a big fan of clean vocals in post hardcore, but I can handle some parts of clean vocals on this album. The guitar work on this album to me is pretty good. I learned how to play the songs by ear. I love the effects they use, it adds a very atmospheric, spacey, yet dark feel to it. The guitar tone is rad as fuck. I do feel like the bass is a small part of the album. But when it has its parts, It stands out. It's pretty cool. The drums on this album are fucking amazing. Coming from a drummer, I enjoy the drum parts very much. They have a very solid vibe, and I like that. My favorites off the album are The Accountable, The Portrait, The Tide, Hello Astronaut, and We Are The Messengers.

I didn't like Birth.Eater though. -_-. Only interesting songs from that album were "The Family Disease" and "In Birth", IMO. The
instrumentals were sucky in comparison to this. I gave Birth.Eater a 2, and I felt that was being generous just because I like
Oceana and I tried my hardest to like Birth.Eater. I really did
As for this new direction they're moving, I just don't know how to feel. It's very different. I liked it on the little Clean Head - EP.
But One Big Particular Loop is weird.

I got back on a kick of this album and damn. It's amazing. Bumping to a 4.5. I know I'll be ridiculed but this album is the shit. Hate it all you want but those instrumentals are just glorious.

Birth Eater is a tad overrated

Just a tad? It's EXTREMELY overrated. This is best Oceana will and ever do since they moved to Polyenso and created boring indie shit that's been done a trillion times before.

One Big Particular Loop isn't "bad" but its not the oceana that I know and love that created this album.

Still very underrated. 5 worthy? Maybe not. But lots of memories associated with this album. However many albums in this
genre with a similar sound seem to be praised but this one is left in the dirt. Kinda sad :/
Still 4.2-4.3 from my views.
Album is every bit as intriguing as As If Everything Was Held in Place by Of Machines (which is praised on here)

This is, without a doubt, a classic record when it comes to Post-Hardcore.

Hell yeah dude. I wish this lineup stuck together for more than one album. Keith always had that rawness to his vocals that I liked a lot.
