When exactly was it that Swans became the new band to name drop so that people would think you are deep and edgy? I see them tossed around like Current 93 once were.



You get the people on Last.fm with random DEEP quotes and arsty photos lining their profiles talking about how intense or dark they are. You'll also see them in groups that are all angsty and nihilistic

You're forgetting there are other sources to discover good music besides sputnik, so what may seem "trve" or "elite" here may not apply to those other sources and my lists/comments are usually all subjective (which is implying that it goes for the majority basically).

@Skweetis - their Fabase doesn't change my opinion of the band, but it is annoying that I have to put up with it whenever I look at anything related to them. There seems to be a lot of bandwagon hopping on to them as well.
